3.8 GLASS CLEANING
The following are things to DO:
• Clean glass as soon as dirt and residue appear visibly.
• Determine if coated glass surfaces are exposed.
• Exercise special care when cleaning coated glasssurfaces.
• Avoid cleaning tinted and coated glasssurfaces in direct sunlight.
• Start cleaning at the top of the building and continue to lower levels.
• Soak the glass surface with a clean waterand soap solution to loosen dirt and debris.
• Use a mild, nonabrasive commercialwindow cleaning solution.
• Use a squeegee to remove all of thecleaning solution.
• Dry all cleaning solution from windowgaskets, sealants and frames.
• Clean one small window area and check to seeif procedures have caused any damage.
• Be aware of and follow the glass supplier’sspecific cleaning recommendations.
• Caution other trades against allowing othermaterials to contact the glass.
• Watch for and prevent conditions that candamage the glass.
